Nancy D. Gaba, MD, FACOG, is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and currently serves as the Oscar I. and Mildred S. Dodek and Joan B. and Oscar I Dodek Jr. Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The George Washington University. Originally from New York City, Dr. Gaba attended Vassar College and subsequently The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She chose to remain in Washington, DC for her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was selected as an Administrative Chief Resident and, upon completion of her residency at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, she was awarded the Allen B. Weingold Award for Excellence in Medical Education. She has gone on to win numerous other prestigious teaching awards including the Donald F. Richardson Faculty Award of Excellence and the ACGME Parker J Palmer Courage to Teach Award. Dr. Gaba has previously served as the Residency Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and as Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education. She is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Gaba has been a member of the full time faculty in the Medical Faculty Associates since 1997. She has many areas of clinical interest and expertise in general Obstetrics and Gynecology. These include: Female Sexual Function and Dysfunction; Menopause; Laparoscopy; General Obstetrics; Sonohysterography; Management & Treatment of Fibroids and Menstrual Disorders; Colposcopy; LEEP; Adolescent Gynecology; Gynecologic Surgery; Hysteroscopy; Cervical Dysplasia; Contraception and Placement of Contraceptive Devices; and Hormone Replacement Therapy.
A published author, Dr. Gaba has also presented at numerous national meetings, including the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO). She serves on the teaching faculty for several professional courses including the APGO Surgical Scholars Program. She also serves as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Dr. Gaba is a founding member and President of the Society for Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology (SASGOG).
Dr. Gaba enjoys caring for women across their lifespans, and believes that a strong doctor-patient relationship is necessary to the excellent care that all patients deserve. Dr. Gaba prides herself on her experience-guided, evidence-based approach to patients. She believes that it is an enormous privilege to be part of a woman's life in the special way that her patients allow her to be, and she takes that responsibility very seriously.
