Biography

Sarah Boutwell, MD, MSPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Boutwell earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Chicago. She went on to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and obtained her medical degree and MSPH focusing on Health Policy. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University. Dr. Boutwell then practiced as a primary care physician for several years in Saint Louis and northern Virginia. She is excited to join the primary care faculty at GW and start the next chapter in her medical career.

Dr. Boutwell has dedicated her career to patient care, focusing on indigent populations, women, and the elderly; teaching residents and medical students throughout. She understands that patients need to be cared for with understanding of not only their physical health but their social and economic health as well. She is thrilled to be using her experience and passion for primary care to teach the next generations of physicians and to help her patients reach their health goals.
