Patrick Gipson, MD, is a nephrologist and internist with The GW Medical Faculty Associates and a clinical professor of medicine with The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He completed his undergraduate degree at Purdue University with a BS in Genetics and graduated from medical school at Indiana University. After completing a combined internal medicine - pediatrics residency at Indiana University, he was a primary care physician in Washington State. After moving to North Carolina, he became a pediatric hospitalist on a pediatric nephrology service, and then completed an adult nephrology fellowship at the University of North Carolina. Subsequently, he spent thirteen years at the University of Michigan as an adult and pediatric nephrologist, where he attended on general medicine, adult and pediatric nephrology services, was director of the outpatient nephrology clinics, developed subspecialty clinics in inherited kidney diseases and glomerular diseases, pursued clinical research in glomerular diseases, and developed outreach educational programs in nephrology for primary care practitioners.
Dr. Gipson is board-certified in adult nephrology, internal medicine, and pediatrics.
He has several clinical and scholarly interests including inherited kidney diseases, glomerular diseases, vasculitis, primary care education, international health, and medical ethics.
