Biography

Anita Vincent, MD, was born in Indiana and lived in multiple cities as a child, finishing high school in Northern Virginia. After attending Virginia Tech as an undergraduate in Political Science, she worked at a Washington, DC law firm. She then completed post-baccalaureate work in Chemistry at George Mason University before applying to medical school and receiving her medical education at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (GW SMHS). Following an internship in Internal Medicine at GW SMHS, she also received her residency training in Anesthesiology there. At the completion of her residency, Dr. Vincent joined the Anesthesiology Department of The GW Medical Faculty Associates. She is the Assistant Director of Resident Education in Neuroanesthesia for the department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine and also serves on the Medical Student Evaluation Committee of The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Dr. Vincent is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care, the District of Columbia Society of Anesthesiologists and the Medical Society of the District of Columbia. She has also been awarded a UHS Hospital Innovation Award: Lidocaine infusion as a non-opiate adjunct to multimodal perioperative pain control in patients having multilevel spinal surgery, George Washington University Hospital Innovation Awards, 2017.  

Dr. Vincent's clinical interests include general anesthesia, acute care of the neurosurgical patient, regional anesthesia, transplant anesthesia, anesthesia for victims of trauma, advanced airway management, and management of coagulation parameters in the perioperative setting. She also enjoys educating residents and medical students and performing research in the academic setting.

Dr. Vincent has two sons, is a marathoner and avid skier and snowboarder.
