If you ask Ingrid Amaya, an administrative supervisor with the George Washington University (GW) Medical Faculty Associates (MFA), work is like home, her coworkers like family. More, she finds true purpose in helping patients, ensuring their clinical experiences are smooth and anxiety-free. Here, Amaya talks about her dedication to others, her love of her role, and why she enjoys being at the GW MFA.

Q. What is your role at GW?

Amaya: I am the administrative supervisor of the Department of Otolaryngology at the GW MFA. I have been working for the organization for 12 years now.

Q. What accomplishments here are you particularly proud of?

Amaya: I am most proud of working for my particular division because I am surrounded by compassionate doctors and staff. Each and every one of them goes the extra mile.

Q. How do you feel about your team?

Amaya: Our division feels like home; we are truly a big family. They are the reason I have been in this organization for this long.

Q. What inspires you about your job?

Amaya: What inspires me the most about my particular job is helping our patients because they do not come to see us because they want to. If I can make the process of being sick [and getting well] easier for them, that fills my heart.
