Biography

Monica Baena, MSN, APRN, AGPCNP-BC is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner. Monica started her nursing career at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in the Neurosciences Critical Care department after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Louisville and Bachelor of Kinesiology degree at University of Maryland, College Park. She went on to work in Intensive Care Units in Austin, TX and George Washington University Hospital. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Maryville University. Monica joins the Rheumatology team with skills in providing evidence-based, interdisciplinary healthcare to diverse populations across the country. She works to cultivate holistic, patient-centered care and aspires to provide the best outcomes for her patients and their families.

She has particular interests in osteoporosis, osteopenia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, joint preservation, non-pharmacological based therapies, and preventative healthcare.

She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), Association of Women in Rheumatology (AWIR), and the Rheumatology Nurses Society (RNS).
