Employee Spotlight: Elsie Ebeling

Elsie Ebeling

Elsie Ebeling is a rare find in the professional world: exacting but flexible, creative but analytical, open to feedback and always willing to help her colleagues, even on short notice. As the creative services manager at the George Washington University (GW) Medical Faculty Associates (MFA), her work can be seen everywhere, from signs to social media, and her design touch is an integral part of the GW MFA brand. Here, she outlines her range of work and what makes her role special.

What is your role at GW, and what does it entail?

Ebeling: I’m the creative services manager, and I design all marketing and branded materials. I help manage the look, feel, and brand of the GW MFA both internally and externally.

How did you get started at the GW MFA?

Ebeling: I joined the marketing team in March of 2015 as a design specialist. It was the first design job I got after graduating college at Penn State.

What accomplishments here are you particularly proud of?

Ebeling: I’ve been lucky enough to design some pretty cool stuff in the past seven years, including the wrap for the Mammovan, large ads in the new Ballston Quarter in Arlington, magazine advertisements, a GW sponsorship takeover spot at the A-10 Championship in CapitalOne Arena, and many other fun projects to help promote our GW MFA doctors!

What lessons have you learned while working here?

Ebeling: Our department has changed a lot over the years, but working in a nimble and flexible way is really important. Some seasons, my role on our team looks much different than others. But I love that about my job – my role allows me to use my skillset in many different ways, and I feel that my hand in each project really makes a difference.
