Dr. Haykal obtained her M.D. degree from University of Damascus in Damascus, Syria, and subsequently received training in obstetrics and gynecology in Syria. Prior to her medical training in United States, Dr. Haykal also worked as a research assistant at University of California Los Angeles at Women’s Health. Her research by then focused on reproductive medicine and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Dr. Haykal completed post-graduate training in internal medicine at the University of Central Florida. She completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the National Institutes of Health Inter-Institute Endocrinology program. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, and she is planning to obtain obesity board as well.
Dr. Haykal’s areas of expertise include reproductive medicine and women’s health (primary interest) including hypogonadism, menopause, endocrinopathies in pregnancy, as well as gestational diabetes. Dr. Haykal also manages thyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders.
Dr. Haykal continues to participate in research and scholar activities in collaboration with National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Haykal has co-authored multiple abstracts and publications. She is an active member of the Endocrine Society and is serving as part time volunteer at National Institutes of Health.
