Biography

Quan Van, PA-C, RDN, MPH, is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in General and Bariatric Surgery with GW Medicine. He works closely with surgeons across General, Bariatric, and Endocrine Surgery to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Quan began his healthcare career as an inpatient Registered Dietitian in Surgical and Critical Care, managing complex enteral and parenteral nutrition needs. He later joined a Bay Area health-tech startup, spearheading efforts to educate underserved communities on diabetes and cardiovascular disease management through an innovative Remote Patient Monitoring program, emphasizing continuity of care and proactive health education.

To expand his clinical expertise, Quan earned his Physician Assistant degree from the George Washington School of Medicine & Health Sciences. He was one of two candidates selected for post-graduate training in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic. However, he chose to join GW Medicine General Surgery Department, where he found the collaborative and interdisciplinary values working closely with experienced surgeons as an opportunity to provide optimal patient care.

With a unique background in clinical nutrition, medical weight management, and surgical care, Quan takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient health. He holds a Master of Public Health in Health Management from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health, equipping him with strategic insights to reduce healthcare disparities.

Quan is an active member of the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants (AASPA), the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
