Biography

Julia Frank comes to The GW Medical Faculty Associates with years of experience providing evaluation, medication, and focused psychotherapy for individuals with serious psychiatric disorders, college students with a variety of difficulties, and women with anxiety and depression, especially in relation to menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause. She has additional certification in the office based treatment of opiate abusers using buprenorphine. Her work with veterans, and subsequent volunteer work with the Red Cross, also informs her interest in working with survivors of various types of trauma, including disasters and intimate trauma.

Dr. Frank also teaches medical students, leading to an interest in providing mental health support to people with other medical and neurological conditions and their family members. Her approach is humanistic, commonsensical and problem focused, based in straightforward communication and shared decision-making.
